This was exactly the case for one of our partners, a contractor working on a local FTTH project. They came to HiFTTH with a request for a new outdoor cabinet design. What they gave us was very limited: one photo of the outdoor cabinet, one photo of the ODF unit, and one hand-drawn sketch of the internal layout. Clear Needs, But No Full Design

The customer’s request was clear enough:

The cabinet should have front double doors, with 28U space on each side.

Inside, it needed to hold six 144-core ODF unit boxes and three 48-core ODF unit boxes.

It had to meet outdoor standards: waterproof, dustproof, and anti-theft.

For easier field work, the cable entry holes were placed at the front bottom of the cabinet, so cables could be pulled in directly.

Inside, patch cords and bare fibers from the incoming/outgoing cables were managed in separate areas, so the work would be clear and safe, with less chance of rework.

In short, the idea was clear — but there were no design files, no drawings, no ready-to-produce details. For a contractor, this usually means wasted time, delays, or even risk of losing a bid.
